Sitka, Alaska (KINY) Vicente Carlos, 54, allegedly fired a rifle towards a house narrowly missing several police cadets out for a morning jog.
Sitka Police said Carlos assaulted a sleeping man in a residence in the 900 block of Halibut Point Road. Police said he used the barrel of the rifle to beat the man.
Later he is accused of firing one round toward a house in the 600 block of Halibut Point Road.
Police said the shot narrowly missed the public safety cadets as they ran on the side of the road.
A police chase ensued and Carlos was taken into custody without further incident.
Charges include misconduct involving weapons in the first degree, misconduct involving weapons in the second degree, burglary in the first degree, assault in the second degree and four counts of assault in the third degree.
Police said Carlos appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicating controlled substance. He was also charged with DUI. He was held on $25,000 bail at the Sitka Jail to await a court appearance.
