School board president remembers Gelbrich

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Former Juneau School District Superintendent Glenn Gelbrich was remembered on Action Line yesterday (Wednesday) by School Board President Brian Holst.

Gelbrich passed away Saturday of cancer.

Holst called Gelbrich a man of change.  "He was a change agent in our district.  Some of the things he pushed for were some what controversial, but he had a positive impact on our district."  Holst added that nobody doubted his commitment to Juneau schools.

Gelbrich served as superintendent  of schools in Juneau from 2009 to 2014.

He just retired this last school year after serving as the superintendent of schools in Kelso, Washington.

Following his retirement, he moved with his wife to Paso Robles, California.
