11 percent of ballots returned for CBJ Municipal Election

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The CBJ reported 3,214 ballots have been returned so far, about 11 percent, of the 27,467 ballots sent out to registered voters on September 15.

    The Anchorage Election Center received 1,276 ballots, 331 ballots were recorded at the City Hall Vote Center, and 488 ballots were received at the Mendenhall Valley Library Vote Center.

    In addition, 524 ballots were received at the Douglas Library/Fire Hall Ballot Drop Box, 569 ballots at the Statter Harbor Boat Launch parking lot Ballot Drop Box, and 26 ballots at the City Clerk's Office.

    Voters have until October 6 to return ballots.

    The options for voters include mailing the ballots through the U.S. Postal Service with a 55 cent stamp, voting at the ballot drop boxes at the Douglas Library or Statter Harbor, and taking the ballot to the City Hall Vote Center or the Mendenhall Valley Library.

    City Hall Vote Center hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 pm through October 5th and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day October 6.

    Hours at the library are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through October 5, noon to 4 pm on October 3, and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.

    The preliminary results from the election are expected to be released on October 9.
