Alaska man dies in motorcycle crash

Wasilla, Alaska (KINY) - A motorcycle collided with an SUV at the intersection of Bridal Path Drive and Wasilla Fishhook Road, taking a life Tuesday afternoon.

Alaska State Troopers said Brett Hopper, 35, was operating the motorcycle at a high rate of speed southbound on Wasilla Fishhook Road.

Hopper tried to pass slower-moving traffic in a no-passing area and collided with an SUV operated by Ted Richey, 57, who was making a left turn at the intersection of Bridal Path Drive.

Hopper was ejected from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

Troopers said Hopper was wearing a helmet.  Richey was not injured.

The investigation into the crash is continuing.
