Anchorage officer wounds man shooting at neighboring homes

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Anchorage Police Chief Justin Doll said a police officer shot and wounded a man who had been firing a semi-automatic rifle at homes in an Eagle River neighborhood Thursday.

Doll said when police officers arrived, the man was firing his weapon.

Officers said they believed they were the targets, and one officer returned fire, injuring the man.

The Anchorage Daily News reports another man, a neighbor, was injured when the man was firing at nearby homes.

At least one home was struck.

Police said both men were taken to an Anchorage hospital and are expected to survive.

Police don't know the man's motive for shooting at neighboring homes.
