Another resident case of COVID-19 confirmed in Juneau

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - A total of 44 residents from Juneau have tested positive for COVID-19 since March and three cases remain active.

How the individual contracted the virus is under investigation.

So far 39 Juneau residents have recovered.  Two Juneau residents died out of state at long-term care facilities in May.

Juneau has reported four non-resident cases.  Three have recovered and one remains active.

A nonresident with COVID-19 was confirmed on Saturday.  That person is an employee of a contractor that provides services to the Greens Creek Mine. The individual tested positive during a mandatory pre-shift quarantine.

All employees and contractors for Greens Creek must complete quarantine and testing before they are allowed to report to the mine.
