COVID-19 case shuts down state office building

Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) - The Robert Atwood Building in downtown Anchorage was shut down today after a state worker tested positive for COVID-19.

The Governor shut down the building at 12 noon after being notified of the positive test.

The worker is asymptomatic.  The worker had contact with another person who had tested positive and was found through contact tracing.

Janitorial staff will conduct a thorough cleaning of the entire building this weekend.

Officials said they are hopeful that the building can reopen on Monday morning.
