Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The current Sitka School Superintendent has been named the new leader of the UAS Educational Leadership programs.

Dr. Wegner will lead the program that is responsible for offering a Master of Education degree, including satisfying the requirements for the Type B Certificate necessary to be a school principal, as well as the superintendent endorsement.

Dr. Wegner will join the UAS faculty in July.

UAS Executive Dean, Dr. Steve Atwater, said he was thrilled to hire Wegner to lead the two educational leadership programs.  "Her extensive experience as an educator and as a leader well positions her to lead the two programs that prepare school leaders for Alaska."

Dr. Wegner has a Ph.D. in Education Technology Leadership from Pepperdine University.  She holds a Master of Education degree in Educational Technology from UAS.

Dr. Wegner told the Sitka School Board earlier this month that she would be leaving the Superintendent position at the end of June.
