Expect delays in COVID-19 test results in Juneau

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Due to high demand, the results from tests at the drive-thru testing facility or Juneau Internatioal Airport could take five days or longer.

The CBJ currently has four active cases.

The State of Alaska said it is addressing the issue in delays and working toward faster turnaround times.

Incident Commander Mila Cosgrove said the CBJ is also looking at ways to increase turnaround times for test results.

The delays are happening at both commercial labs and state labs.

She said the CBJ is working to get their own equipment in place to process tests on a large scale at the local level.  The equipment could also test samples from other Southeast communities.
