Juneau business applies for onsite pot consumption permit

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — A marijuana business in Juneau could start allowing onsite cannabis consumption if given permit approval later this month, making it the first business in the city to do so.

The Juneau Empire reported that Rainforest Farms submitted an application to the City and Borough of Juneau to modify the inside of the business to create a designated space for consuming cannabis, including a coffee shop, bar and lounge area that offers pot-infused foods.

The state Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development has already approved the structural plans.

The permit will next go before the city Planning Commission at an Aug. 11 meeting.
