No validations, but boat patrols for 74th salmon derby

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The 74th Annual Golden North Salmon Derby committee made the decision to not validate tickets this year.

The change is due to concerns about social distancing.

Lines usually start forming at about 5 a.m., with people packed together.

Organizers say boat patrols will be on the fishing grounds enforcing the 7:30 a.m. start time.

The derby runs Aug. 14 through 16. A full list of the rules can be found here.
