Seattle driver slams into protestors

Seattle, Washington (ABC) - A 27-year-old Seattle man was taken into custody after his vehicle slammed into a group of people marching on I-5 Saturday.

Police said a Jaguar struck two women.  Both were listed in critical condition at an area hospital.

The highway had been closed for demonstrations when the driver entered the freeway going the wrong way.  The freeway had been closed for 19 straight nights for demonstrations.

Police said they can no longer guarantee protestor's safety.

Authorities said the motive for the incident is unknown.

Earlier this week police reclaimed a so-called autonomous zone taken over by protesters.  Authorities had been blocked away from the area for weeks.

Police cleared out the zone after multiple shootings.
