State reports 119 new cases of COVID-19

    Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported that 15 communities had new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.

    The report said 82 residents and 37 non-residents tested positive for the virus.

    There were 36 new cases in Anchorage, 10 in Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area, nine in Fairbanks, seven in Wasilla, four in Eagle River, four in Juneau, three in Soldotna, two in Homer, and one each in Ketchikan, Nome, Nikiski, Palmer, Seward, SE Fairbanks Census Area, and Sutton-Alpine.

    36 cases were in the Aleutians West Census Area at a American Triumph seafood processing vessel.

    Of the 82 Alaska resident cases, 52 were of females.

    There have been 99 hospitalizations and 18 deaths since the pandemic began.  There have been 712 recovered cases and over 173,000 tests administered in the state.

    The average daily positive test rate in the past three days is 2.15 percent.
