Bethel, Alaska (KINY) - A five-year-old child became the second victim of a boating accident near the Kuskokwim River first reported on Monday.
Alaska State Troopers said Danielle Berlin Walker, five of Anchorage, was one of the passengers on an 18-foot flat-bottom skiff that had been navigating a blind turn on the channel on the Johnson River.
At the same time, a more substantial 21-foot long skiff was headed down river with nine people on board.
Both operators did not see the oncoming vessel in time, and turned the boats into each other's path.
One vessel was operated by David Berlin,51 of Anchorage, and the second vessel by Dennis Demientieff, 45, of Kasigluk.
Berlin also died in the collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
