COVID-19 cases surpass 700 in state

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The daily report from the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services found 708 total cases of COVID-19 and 247 active cases in the state Thursday.

    The report showed 449 cases are listed as recovered while 56 people have been hospitalized during the pandemic.

    The report also showed 18 people are currently hospitalized or considered a person under investigation for having the virus.

    Over 81,000 tests have been administered in the state since the pandemic began.

    It was not known if a case confirmed in Gustavus was listed among the state's total.

    Other cases of the virus are found in Haines, one with one active, Ketchikan 21 with five active, Sitka nine with seven active, Wrangell three with two active, and Juneau 39 with four active.

    The state said there are 19 active cases in the Southeast region.

    The state total was 696 on Wednesday.
