Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Governor Mike Dunleavy was asked to respond to the latest news from the committee seeking his recall while a guest on Action Line.
It appears most likely the committee will not be able to gather enough signatures in time to place the question on November's General Election ballot. The Governor said he has not focused on the recall.
"Actually since I got into office I've been focused on governing Alaska and now especially with this pandemic, we've been focused a hundred percent on getting Alaska through this. So that's where my attention has been, to be honest with you. I mean make no mistake about it, I know that there was a recall attempt going on, but again our focus is on governing the State of Alaska helping Alaska stay healthy, trying to stabilize the economy and getting us through this, so that's where my attention and focus has been."
The Recall committee now hopes to have a sufficient level of signatures by Spring and force the question onto a special election ballot.
