Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Southeast Alaska Conservation Council introduced a new staff member on Acton Line Friday.

Executive Director Meredith Trainor announced that former State Department of Environmental Conservation employee Sally Schlichting was hired to be the organization's environmental policy analyst.

When asked why  Schlichting is a good fit for the position, Trainor mentioned her work with DEC and then deferred to Schlichting.
"I worked at DEC for about 17 years doing policy and regulations.  When this job came open, this environmental policy analyst job, it seemed like a great fit."

She fills a new position, according to Trainor.  "We wanted to really move away from having a specific legal person at SEACC. We work really closely with Earthjustice."

Trainor explained that the switch was possible following the retirement of Grassroots Attorney Buck Lindekugal in December.
