JPD adds two new officers

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The newcomers are from Missouri and Oregon.

    Community Service Officer Cat Myers and Police Officer Beckett Savage were added to the ranks on February 10.

    Myers comes from a small town in Missouri.  She also has served six years in the US Coast Guard where she coordinated search and rescue.

    She will begin her law enforcement career immediately and join the JPD field training program.

    Savage grew up in Oregon and moved to Anchorage in 2012.  He moved to Juneau in 2016 and attended the University of Alaska Southeast.  Savage said he decided to pursue a career in law enforcement after interacting with Juneau police.

    Savage will attend the Public Safety Academy in Sitka later this month.
