Juneau School Board plans public listening session

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Juneau School Board normally takes July off, but a series of meetings is scheduled.

    It starts out Monday with a listening session for members to listen to the public,  according to board member Emil Mackey,  who said topics for discussion will include the plan being developed by the district for next school year.

    "We're going to talk about the Smart Start and get public feedback and public comment and also board feedback and comment to the superintendent on moving forward with Smart Start and what we like and what we don't like."  Smart Start refers to the plan being developed by the district for the next school year.

    Mackey added that the public is highly encouraged to participate.

    Monday's meeting which will be available via Zoom is scheduled to convene at 5 p.m.

    The board will conduct an executive session to take up the evaluation for Superintendent Bridget Weiss Wednesday, July 8.

    A regular meeting is set for Tuesday, July 14 where the board will review plans for how classes will be conducted next school year.
