Palmer authorities attempting to locate driver involved in burglary using a U-Haul

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Two men in the Palmer area were found stealing items from a home using a U-Haul truck, and state troopers are seeking the driver behind the alleged burglary.

    On Saturday at about 11:02 in the morning, state troopers responded to a report of a suspicious U-Haul vehicle in the area of North Calero Drive in Palmer.

    Investigation revealed the U-Haul was occupied by two males who were actively stealing items from a residence.

    When contacted by the homeowners, the males attempted to flee in the U-Haul with the stolen items, striking the homeowner’s vehicle multiple times with an occupant inside.

    The U-Haul was stopped before leaving the area with the assistance of a State Park Ranger who was on patrol in the vicinity. The driver ran away leaving the passenger behind as he fled the area.

    The passenger was identified as Saisu Tolumane who was subsequently arrested on charges of burglary and theft. Tolumane was transported to Matsu Pretrial where he is being held pending arraignment.

    The driver was identified as Krist Berg and was unable to be located. Berg is currently facing charges of Burglary, Theft, Assault, and Criminal Mischief.
