State reports 42 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services said 38 Alaska residents and four non-residents tested positive for the novel Coronavirus on Wednesday.

    The report showed a total of 978 cases in the state of Alaska residents who have tested positive.  There have been 198 non-resident cases.

    The report found 528 people have recovered and 436 active cases in the state.

    Juneau had 44 resident cases with no new cases today.  The borough has had four non-resident cases.  Five cases remain active while 37 people have recovered and eight people have been hospitalized here.

    The new resident cases were reported in Anchorage 17, the Kenai Peninsula five, Fairbanks three, the Matanuska-Susitna Borough seven, and cases in Nome and Kotzebue.

    New non-resident cases were confirmed today in Anchorage and Sitka.
