Treadwell Ditch work to accelerate

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Significant work is planned this summer on the renovation of the Treadwell Ditch Trail.

    The $660,000 Alaska Fish and Game Grant was awarded to the Juneau Community Foundation.  

    Jamie Waste, the foundation's program director, said on Action Line that the funding has allowed an expansion of the work crew.   He said the plan this season is to install eight bridges and add several more miles of tread.

    The grant requires a $220,000 local match of which $185,500 has already been raised.  Waste said they have $35,000 to go and encouraged people to make donations by going to their web site,
