Wasilla man arrested, charged with murder in early morning shooting

    Wasilla, Alaska (KINY) - A Wasilla man has been taken into custody by Alaska State Troopers on suspicion of murder.

    After an investigation, Troopers have arrested 49-year-old Michael Jackson for the murder of his wife, Christina Jackson. He was remanded without incident to Mat-Su Pretrial on Aug. 11 on charges of Murder 1 and Murder 2.

    On Aug. 8, at approximately 4 a.m., Troopers were notified that 43-year-old Christina Jackson had been shot. Troopers, with the assistance of the Wasilla Police Department, immediately responded to the home where the incident occurred.

    Despite life-saving efforts by law enforcement and first responders, she was declared deceased at the scene.

    The Alaska Bureau of Investigation Mat-Su Valley Major Crimes Unit assumed case responsibility for the incident.

    The state medical examiner will conduct an autopsy on Jackson’s remains, and her next of kin has been notified.
