
Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Southeast Conference Region V 1A basketball tournament held at Juneau’s Thunder Mountain High School last week featured awards presentations on Saturday night. Athletes were honored for their work, not only in the tournament, but through the season as well.

Tournament championship team trophies went to the Klawock Chieftains girls and Kake Thunderbirds boys. Runner Up trophies went to the Skagway Panthers girls and Klawock Chieftains boys.
The Team Sportsmanship Award went to the Thorne Bay Wolverines.
In a skills competition on Saturday, Kake junior Mamie Crookes and Klawock sophomore Marley Kness won the girls and boys, respectively, three point contests. Skagway sophomore Athena Smith and Gustavus sophomore Ben Bruno won the girls and boys, respectively, free throw contests.
All-Conference team players were nominated by coaches for play during the 2021-22 season and voted on at the tournament. Coaches could not vote for their own players once nominated.
Girls All-Conference: Klawock senior Kenai Holien, Kake junior Mamie Crookes, Skagway senior Tatum Sager, Hoonah junior Alona Howland, Hoonah senior Hallie Wilson, Angoon junior Cheyenne Kookesh, Angoon sophomore Zara Fayer, Angoon junior Taryn Kookesh, Klawock senior Zoey Edenshaw and Kake senior Alexis Copsey - (also receiving votes were Kake senior Dionna Jackson, Klawock sophomore McKinley Holien, Skagway senior Zoe Whitehead, Hoonah freshman Krista Howland and Thorne Bay junior Clara Pablos).
Boys All-Conference: Klawock sophomore Marley Kness, Angoon junior Julian Duncan, Hoonah sophomore Tyrell Cromer, Skagway junior Austin Bricker, Kake junior Ethan Kadake, Thorne Bay senior Jakob Nelson, Skagway junior Joshua Cochran, Yakutat sophomore Magnus Endicott, Kake junior Brandon Ward, Klawock junior Emmett Fairbanks - (also receiving votes were Kake sophomore Dominic Ross, Angoon sophomore Levi Johnson JR, Yakutat junior George Valle IV, Gustavus junior Daniel Bohlke, Klawock junior Dalton Wyzykowski, Angoon sophomore Kyle Johnson JR, Angoon junior Elijah Carle, Gustavus sophomore Ben Bruno, Klawock senior Martin Guthrie, Thorne Bay eighth grader Davin Hamby).
All-Academic team members were selected. These were student/athletes with an outstanding grade point achievement throughout their four year high school career.

Good Sports Team members were recognized for their excellent sportsmanship on and off the court. Two members from each team were selected.
