Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Juneau Huskies high school football team has moved up in the polls thanks to their dominant performance over the Colony Knights last weekend.
Juneau (1-0) is now ranked second in division one in the Alaska Sports Broadcasting Network poll after defeating Colony 53-12.
East (1-0) continues their preseason top ranking after defeating Service 45-22.
West (1-0) is third after stopping Bartlett 33-9, number four South (0-0) was idle except for a scrimmage against Dimond which they won 36-14, Service (0-1) is fifth, Dimond (0-0) is sixth, Bartlett (0-1) would fall to seventh and Colony (0-1) eighth.
Juneau will host Dimond at 3 p.m. Saturday on Adair Kennedy Field.
Conference action this weekend includes East playing South, West will play Service and Bartlett facing Colony.
The ASBN poll lists the top five division two/three teams as Soldotna, Lathrop, Monroe, Eagle River and North Pole.
In a national ranking poll DI East was top, DII Soldotna (0-0) second, DII Eagle River third with a 57-0 win over Homer, DII Wasilla fourth with a 31-6 win over Houston, DI West fifth, DII Lathrop sixth with a 50-7 win over Palmer, Juneau seventh, South eighth, Bartlett ninth, and Colony 10th. Following were Service, Homer, Barrow, Palmer, Houston, Monroe, Dimond, West Valley, North Pole, Redington, Chugiak, Kenai, Kodiak, Nikiski, Valdez, Eielson and Seward.
